Connecting with the CBC and Radio in General

Description: Learn the do's, don'ts and everything in between, when it comes to getting your music played on the CBC and radio in general. A program assistant at CBC Radio and half of the Mother Corp’s Music Resources team, Mr. Rheaume bought his first piece of recorded music when he was eight years old (a 45 of “Proud Mary” by Solomon Burke) and has been a music freak ever since. A graduate of the Radio and Television Broadcasting program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Mr. Rheaume has worked for CBC Radio since 1998. In addition to vetting CDs of all types for airplay on the Ceeb, he reports on music for numerous Radio One programs, including “Fresh Air”, “Definitely Not the Opera”, and morning and afternoon drive shows across the country. In this capacity, he has met, as he puts it, “everyone from struggling independent artists to international superstars”.

Jay Moonah, an Internet technology consultant and trainer, will cover all the basics of: search optimization of your website, blogs, podcasts, miscellaneous promotional channels, iTunes, CD Baby, Indie Pool and more!  For more than 10 years, Jay has held staff and teaching positions with a number of Canada's major online institutions, including CANOE, CBC, University of Toronto, and Ryerson University.  He is an active member of the local independent music scene. A songwriter & multi-instrumentalist with the Toronto band Uncle Seth, he is also the host of the Toronto Independent Music Podcast, a weekly show featuring some of the best music produced by unsigned artists from the Toronto area.  Jay is also a board member and secretary of the The Matt Osborne Musicians Trust Fund, a fund created in memory of singer/songwriter/musician Matt Osborne to support young and aspiring musicians.

Do you struggle with low confidence, lack of focus, goal-setting, performance preparation, stress or performance anxiety? This workshop will look at proven psychological techniques that can help you to overcome performance blocks, learn how to set challenging (but realistic) goals, and achieve your individual optimal level of performance tension.

Sara Kamin is an MSc graduate in Performance Psychology from the University of Edinburgh. She currently works as a university lecturer, researcher and performance consultant.
